Correct service number in Roll Book. Keogh has him as "J Mallon from Derry". Keogh has him as Inniskillings, but Mahony has Connaught Rangers. Casement notes he was a "coal miner" before enlistment. Not in 1911 census for England or Overseas Military.

1914 Taken prisoner, and followed the rest of the Irish Brigade through Limburg, Zossen and Danzig. 10598 Pte Mallon J, 20 Murano St, Maryhill, Glasgow on list of Connaught POWs. His next of kin is later listed as Mrs Quinn, 20 Murano St, Glasgow, his sister.
